It ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.

Orinoka Civic House is a $17.8 million overhaul of the former Orinoka Mills factory in Kensington by New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC).

ABOUT ORINOKA CIVIC HOUSE

Orinoka Civic House is located at 2771-2777 Ruth Street, Philadelphia, a block from the house that director John G. Avildsen used as the home of a scrappy street fighter named Rocky.

Once a textile mill for curtains and upholstry, then a safety hazard and an eyesore, Orinoka now contains 51 units of sustainable, affordable housing, an indoor community space, a commercial storefront and room for NKCDC’s main offices.

LIVING AT ORINOKA

In addition to community and commercial space, Orinoka Civic House has 51 one and two bedroom apartments. Learn more here.
